It is currently the 22nd, most of the way through the first month of summer break.
Needless to say, had I better things to be doing I would not be sitting here on blogger.
But! I am OK with the fact that most of the time I don't have shit to do, and therefor get to hang out at home doing whatever the fuck I please. For a lot of people that is a total privilege. I haven't done as much as I wanted to. Or see all the people I would have liked to. My writing habits have been.... erratic. But goddamn have I read like a motherfucker.

I am a movie-going sort of person. With the amount of time off I have been afforded (I call it afforded, to make it seem as if I had earned it) I have been to quite a few movies. List thus far:
In a better world (Best Foreign film winner at the oscars this year. Intense shit.)
The Hangover Two- I was asked to go see it with people. And in case you are wondering, it is the Hangover...just in Bangkok.
Horrible Bosses- Actually great cast. Good fun.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2- Pretty much...
UPDATE- I just made a blanket fort. That should fill my spontaneity quota for the day. Woooh.
Beginners- Ewan Mcgreggor is a charming motherfucker. This movie was really beautiful. The only place showing it was in Waterloo, so my friend Marina and I took a trip down to do a double feature with:
The Tree of Life- Speechless doesn't even begin to cover it. I spent the whole night up thinking about the film. Fuckballs it messes with your head.
Bad Teacher- Boredom makes you go see very bad movies. I didnt really need to see Justin Timberlake dry humping Cameron Diaz. But now I have. It was fun, though.

Working weekends
Trying to stop putting on weight. I have the sinking suspicion that all this sitting around interneting has had its repercussions on my body.

This week I pulled in all nighter that ended up being a marathon of Arrested Development, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sponge Bob, and Boy Meets World.

5 Reasons going to Hogwarts would be shitty
1- Lack of education.
Yes, its a school. I get that. But students enroll at the age of 11, and from then on they learn exclusively about magical lifestyles. Not math, not English. Meaning most of them are going to be pretty dense about nearly anything going on in the Muggle world.
2- Constant threat of death
If its not the death eaters trying to blow the school to hell towards the end of every school year, its the magical creatures trying to eat your arms, or even your soul (if you are a Dementor.) Not to mention the dangerous classes being taught, as well as the fact that every person in the school carries around a loaded weapon they are being trained to use. Piss off the opposing Quiddich team? Hexed in the face.
3- Its constantly at the center of Wizarding Battles.
Harry vs Voldemort was probably not the only wizard feud to ever happen at the school. Like I said, everyone carries around weapons 24/ 7. Pretty sure magic battles go down all the time for next to no reason. Trying to get to your next class only to find yourself in the middle of two bitchy witches feud over a hot wizard. Not your problem, but guess what? They just transfigured you into a sheep. How does that feel?
4- The stairs move, uncontrollably, might I add. I am going to go out on a limb and say there is probably some sort of punishment for being late to class. Using the excuse that the stairs moved on you may be believable from a wizarding standpoint, but it will still probably land you in detention for not showing on time.
5- An entire house consists of dark wizards. Being trained to use magic. In some cases, by other dark wizards.(spoiler) Snape was on Harry's side in the end but he was also a death eater. Dark wizards training dark wizards. Meaning you will have to study with and contend against evil little sons of bitches. Learning is fun, kids.

The People's Key
So new Bright Eyes album. Wow. I really enjoyed it. Yes, Connor Oberst is not always subtle, and the ideas running through this album are pretty obvious, the way the band goes about is is really cool. Its like they took what worked from Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and We are nowhere and Its now and made themselves a new album. Really cool stuff, check it out!

while I catch my breath
Hello Dear Readers! Yes, it has again been quite a long time since I updated this littleblog of mine. Needless to say, I have been rather busy. Directing two plays at the moment,(ok co directing one, thankfully) while acting in both. So, there is that. Two weeks ago (or something like that) exams were in full swing and stress was all over the place. Now I have new classes, work, plays, and life to deal with. Anyhow, here is what I have been doing between all that.
Identity
So I finally saw this John Cusack thriller after the universe seemingly not wanting me to. It felt very short, maybe thats just because it was so engaging. I dont want to give you too much detail on the thing because its a bit of a mind fuck. Its a murder mystery, with quite a twist. Looking for a good intense kind of movie? Check this thing out.
Zombieland
One of those movies everyone is surprised to hear I have not seen. Or at least, they told me to check it out. So I finally did. And yeah, quite fun. Obviously, Jesse Eisenberg was great. I dont know how you cant like that guy. And Woody Harrelson. I feel as if I have never seen the guy before, and within the last 2 months I have seen like, 4 movies with the guy in them. I also find Emma Stone horribly charming. Really looking forward to seeing her in the new Spiderman Reboot. Which also has Andrew Garfield. Both of whom have worked with Jesse Eisenburg. Woooah. Six degrees up in here.
Nick Hornby
Obviously you can see I am a fan of the guys work, but as of late I have been really into it. I go through phases with authors. In grade nine I was really into Douglas Coupland, last year it was Terry Pratchett, and I can feel a full on Hornby kick coming on.
The New Decemberists Album
So folksy. So good. I was sort of worried when I heard they were channeling some country music vibes for this one. But its really more of a modern folk sort of thing. And its super epic.
MGMT
Psychedelic love, their two albums are fantastic dancey epics you should really check out. I am more partial to their first album, Orracular Spectacular. Every tack on it is so intensely listenable.
The National
They just came out with their last album last year I believe, High Violet. While the first few tracks are just alright, everything past them is really beautiful. "Lemon World" is becoming one of my top songs at the moment. I found this album took more than one listen to really get into. The lead singers voice takes some getting used to. I find it sort of a Bob Dylan Lou Reed combination. My friend Hugh doesnt see it, but its what I think of when I hear him.
Community
Everyone should watch this show. I kid you not. Probably the best comedy on the air right now. I have been obsessed with it since it started, so this is really more for a list of top fives or top tv, but still. Its airing weekly at the moment so I am on a full on community trip as of late.

2011 here we come
Happy New Year! Life in High Fidelity has been lacking in updates and songs of the week this past month or so. Mainly because my life has been filled with some hard core christmasing, shopping, script editing, rehearsals, self hair cutting, partying and work work work. So, in the spirit of the new year, here is my list of things to look forward to in 2011.
The Walking Dead.
Fellow blogger and frequent best friend Hugh Lobb have begun to watch the AMC hit series The Walking Dead, which, in case you have not heard, follows a zombie-pocolapse and a group of people trying to survive it. At the moment we are only into the second episode. The first episode was among the best pilot episodes I have ever seen. Season two continues this year, meaning I will be puuuumped for it once we finish the first.
Weeds
The show will be going into its seventh season, I do believe. At the moment my other fellow blogger and other best friend Scarlett of "BAMFB" are on the fourth season. During the Christmas break we marathoned Weeds, burning through the complete third season in two sittings. By the time the show is back on I may just be caught up.
If you dont watch weeds, you should. Every season just keeps getting more and more intense. Shit goes down on that show, trust me.
The continuing epic that is Fringe.
Fox has pulled a Firefly and moved their brilliant cult hit sci fi show to Friday night. Which, as we have seen with the before mentioned show and the other Whedon show Dollhouse, usually means cancellation. I really need this not to be the case. I may lose all hope in television if this happens. I at least want this show to reach its own conclusion, with at least a full running fourth season. Fox should at least give it that. You should really check out Fringe, its the best sci fi show on tv right now, trust me. And it needs your help.
John Cusack's Edgar Allan Poe movie.
Apparently its a combination of Cusack, Poe creepiness, and murder mystery. Oh hells yes.
Continuing news on the roller coaster ride of a production that is Peter Jacksons The Hobbit.
Seriously, this movie has gone through hell and back. And it needs to get made. Life in High Fidelity demands it so.
The New Tintin Movie
Spielberg directed performance capture animated Tintin. Check out the movie stills online right now, they look pretty cool.
Parks and Recreation being being put back on the air.
One of NBC's best shows, featuring the always brilliant Amy Pohler. They never gave it the respect it deserved, and took them off the air for nearly a year, replacing it with the lackluster and kind of offensive Outsourced. The show made use of that for a stellar season finale, however. Hopefully they will be back and compensate for the lack of show and be as funny as ever.
New Decemberists Album
It seems they have dropped the rock opera theme and gone with a more poppy feeling this time around. Which should be cool, however I still really love their concept albums and it would be cool to see more of them in the future.
Scream 4.
Considering how self aware these movies are, it will be very cool to see a re boot with the original cast, and see them make use of the new kinds of horror slasher movies for some entertaining commentary. Screw you, nay sayers. Scream is classic, and I will definitely be checking this one out.
